  Love #59 — Courrier typeface choice.

  Having read Mark Porter’s Guardian iPad blog post this morning I had a look through his portfolio and was struck by his design for the French weekly paper Courrier. It has all the hallmarks of his beautifully restrained and functional design yet uses the typeface Omnes to great effect. So many designers would have got sucked into a Helvetica or one of it’s equally conservative alternatives (think Gotham, Proxima Nova etc) trap. Instead by using Omnes and its large variety of weights he creates an identity for the paper which runs throughout. I also happen to really like Omnes.
